I first entered the Federal Duck Stamp competition in 2019, and it’s now an annual event that I participate in. My work has reached millions of people ever since I started documenting my entry every year on my tiktok account.

This competition raises 40 million dollars each year to preserve and care for wetlands and wildlife. For more information about the competition, preservation, and stamp visit their website.

Companion Species

During the 2023 federal duck stamp competition, I was asked to be the artist of the companion species; a drawing that accompanies the winning design that is featured on the back of the printed duck stamp. Each year, a graphite drawing of a species that compliments the winning duck is chosen as a representative of the vast wildlife that inhabits our wetlands. My species is a female Wilson’s Phalarope. This drawing is on the back of the 2024 federal duck stamp souvenir sheet (paired with Chuck Black’s Northern Pintail) and on it’s own envelope that can be purchased in support of the duck stamp program and conservation.
